Animal that can Survive without Oxygen

A tiny parasite called Henneguya salminicola is the first known multicellular animal that can survive without oxygen. Scientists have just discovered that a jellyfish-like parasite doesn’t have a mitochondrial genome – the first multicellular organism known to have this absence. That means it doesn’t breathe; in fact, it lives its life completely free of oxygen dependency. This discovery isn’t just changing our understanding of how life can work here on Earth – it could also have implications for the search for extraterrestrial life. We know there are adaptations that allow some organisms to thrive in low-oxygen, or hypoxic, conditions. Some single-celled organisms have evolved mitochondria-related organelles for anaerobic metabolism, but the possibility of exclusively anaerobic multicellular organisms has been the subject of some scientific debate. That is until a team of researchers led by Dayana Yahalomi of Tel Aviv University in Israel decided to take another look at a commo

Detecting Coronavirus

LexaGene’s technology is ideally suited to identify novel pathogens such as coronavirus. Our genetic analyzer can quickly detect new pathogens in just one hour, on-site. Currently, the traditional process requires that samples from sick individuals must be transported to laboratories for manual processing. This is extremely inefficient and introduces a significant time-delay that can have severe consequences for disease spread. Today’s coronavirus outbreak highlights why LexaGene’s technology is needed so desperately. Developing a new diagnostic test to detect this coronavirus is important and has already been done by numerous groups.2  The challenge is bringing these manually performed tests out of the specialized reference laboratories that can take days to return results and instead to the points-of-need, which are the clinics, hospitals, and airports where answers are needed in one hour or less.  Currently, no technology exists that allows for these locations to readily start sc

Ryzen 7 4800U

New AMD Ryzen 7 4800U 3DMark 11 scores increase its margin over the Core i7-1065G7 It seems AMD has been tweaking its Ryzen 7 8400U APU (or more likely it has been fitted inside a better-performing system) as new results from the 3DMark 11 benchmark have shown it increases its lead over Intel’s Core i7- 1065g7 processor. In January, the Ryzen 7 4800U was recorded scoring 5,068 in the graphics test and 11,159 points in the physics test. The i7-1065G7 managed 4,591 points and 8,470 points, respectively, in comparison. Some new digging by Tum Apisak has demonstrated that the Ryzen 7 4800U still had more to offer, with the latest benchmark scores of an impressive 5,891 points and 12,498 points now being listed. This is not an unsurprising demonstration of the performance ability of AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800U mobile chip, as the company behind the design of the Renoir processor already claimed it could surpass Intel’s Core i7-1065G7 in a variety of benchmarks. How it will perform in real-li

Windows 10X

Windows 10X is a new edition of Windows 10 designed for dual-screen devices like Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Neo, but it’s more than that. It’s a new Windows operating system that will likely come to all devices one day. Faster Updates, More Battery Life, and Improved Security Thanks to that read-only operating system, Windows will be able to download operating system updates and switch to the new system when you reboot. Microsoft says a reboot to install a big operating system update should take less than 90 seconds. Isolating applications in containers will also improve battery life. Win32 applications will be isolated from the rest of the system and Microsoft can control what they can do, including better managing background tasks and preventing startup programs from slowing your PC. Finally, security receives a big boost. Applications you install won’t be able to mess with your Windows system files. This should provide better protection from rootkit-like malware and

AMD Ryzer Threadripper 3990X

So AMD's 32 core Thread Ripper 3950x already beats the Intel's top-end Core i9 on products so the first question we had to ask ourselves here given that they have no competition in this segment already why is AMD even bothering to launch this product. It's overkill in pretty much every possible way, 64 core 128 threads 288 megabytes of cash and official support for up to 32 hundred megahertz memory with single rank 8-gigabyte sticks even that doesn't carry over all the higher capacities.  The craziest thing about it is that the normal rule where high core count CPU's have poor performance in lightly threaded applications just doesn't seem to apply here we've got a 4% drop in our single thread cinebench score compared to our Ryzen 9 939 50x that's AMD's highest boosting desktop chip so form a business perspective one of the obvious concerns, when you go all out on a desktop processer, is that even though this thing is still pricey at 4,000 US

Google Stadia vs. GeForce Now

Stadia vs. GeForce Now ( Image Link ) Google's new Stadia streaming service doesn't stream movies or TV shows, but video games that run on Google's own servers and are accessible on phones, tablets, Google Chrome, and Chromecast Ultra. Just plugin or pair a controller with your device of choice to play assorted console and PC-quality games. Stadia isn't the only service of its kind, though. The game streaming field began nearly a decade ago with OnLive, and while that no longer exists, there are a few services that let you play your favourite games remotely. Nvidia's GeForce Now uses Nvidia's servers to run PC games, which are then sent to any compatible Windows PC, Mac, or Nvidia Shield device. It supports hundreds of games and can be integrated with parts of your Steam library. Input Lag This is the most important part of game streaming. However your games look, you can't play them if they respond to your input

Over 350 deaths have been confirmed in China. India and several other countries have undertaken operations to evacuate citizens from the worst affected Wuhan region in China. Stay with TOI for live updates. Chinese officials tried to reassure the nation about food and medical supplies, and a meeting of top Communist Party officials called the situation “a major test of China’s system.” Here’s what you need to know: The death toll in China exceeds that of the SARS outbreak: The death toll from the new coronavirus has exceeded that of the severe acute respiratory syndrome outbreak in 2002 and 2003 in mainland China. WHO declares global coronavirus emergency as death toll hits 213

WHO declares global coronavirus emergency as death toll hits 213 (It is more than 900 now) BEIJING: The United States told its citizens not to travel to China in the first major response to the World Health Organization’s declaration of a global emergency over the spreading coronavirus, as Chinese authorities Friday increased the toll to 213 dead and nearly 10,000 infections. The State Department raised its warning alert to the highest level, telling its citizens “do not travel” to China because of an epidemic that has now spread to more than 20 nations. Hours earlier, the WHO, which has faced criticism for initially downplaying the virus threat, revised its risk assessment after crisis talks in Geneva. “Our greatest concern is the potential for the virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems,” said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Death toll grows China has taken extreme steps to stop the spread of the virus, including effectively quarantining more than 50
